Welcome to a new issue of Tarot Tips!
And a special welcome to our new subscribers.
Here we are in October! Without a doubt this month
is filled with activities in this world and beyond the
veil. It is said that the close of the month is a time
when the veil is thinnest between the spirit realm and
3D world. Perhaps, it is simply a time in which we
anticipate the end of the year, which brings about
reflection on people and/or things we have lost, what
we can salvage, and anything that needs to be released
or further manifested.
The witchy and wonderful Ethony Dawn is our special
guest contributor for this month’s Tarot Tip. “The
Risks Of Getting Or Giving A Free Tarot Reading” is
not a topic that’s discussed much. As free readings
are so popular from both sides of the reading table,
it’s worthy of contemplation.
It’s all about auras in The Diviner’s Corner, and
the Best Practices for Professional Readers column gets
real about safety for yourself and your clients.
Enjoy!
I will be having hip replacement surgery on
October 15th so Tarot Tips will be on hiatus
until next year. Healing and magical energy will
be very much appreciated! ~ Ruth Ann

Tarot Tip
THE RISKS OF GIVING OR GETTING
A FREE TAROT READING
by Ethony Dawn
Please note that this is an opinion piece for the most
part and these are things that I feel are a good idea
for Tarot Readers to think on before they offer Free
Tarot Readings. As with everything that I share, take
what resonates with you and simply leave the rest.
I did do free readings all the time at the beginning of
my Tarot journey for practice and feedback. I did do
free readings when I moved my business online.
I am not knocking it. There are two posts a week in
the Tarot Readers Academy Facebook Group that are
dedicated to offering Free Tarot Readings so it is not
something that I look down on at all.
When you carry out a free Tarot reading you do so at
your own risk. When you receive a free Tarot reading
you do so at your own risk. There is always risk
involved and I feel that if you are going to offer or
receive a free Tarot reading you have to reflect on
whether or not you are okay with that risk.
People will do and say anything, even when free reading
exchanges are controlled in a group, for example. Admins
and mods cannot control anyone and can only enforce
the rules to a certain point. We can’t fine anyone or
make anyone do anything they don’t want to.
Getting negative feedback when you give a free reading
is going to happen at some point. Read for long enough
or do anything for long enough, and you are going to
find that someone does not vibe with you or your work.
Your reading may not have been very accurate or
resonated with the person. That also happens,
especially when you are learning. Or the person may be
an internet troll or they may not be in a place where
they are accepting your message at the time. You have
to be okay with the fact that these things can and will
happen at some point.
People will bounce, people will join groups, use
Readers for a reading and then leave. I call them
burner people like burner phones. This is a risk.
It happens a lot.
People will not honor agreements. Simple as that.
It sucks and it’s not a integrity move but people do it.
If you have decided you are perfectly okay with the
risks, these are some things that you can do to make
things easier and less risky:
• Use the trusted reader thread and document to minimize
risk if you are in the Tarot Readers Academy Facebook
Group. It is there for that reason.
• If you are in a group and offer free reading and see
the same person asking for a gazillion readings all the
time…take a moment before agreeing to work with them.
They are likely fishing and going from Reader to Reader.
I mean if you don’t care then go for it but that for me
is a massive red flag.
• Own your ability to say no. You do not have to say yes
to people.
• If you are worried about the risk of getting a free
reading then support some of the people in your Tarot
groups and community and pay for one. There are readers
at every financial investment level. Yes there is still
risk but with reviews etc. there is a lot less.
What are your opinions on giving free Tarot readings?
Do you do them? Have you received a free Tarot reading?
Was it a good experience? I would love to hear from you.

AURA READINGS
The meaning of aura may vary across practices and
philosophies. Typically, in the occult and paranormal
world, aura refers to the output of energy that encloses
and is emitted from the body. This energy field is
unseen by the naked eye. However, it can be detected by
highly sensitive psychics, and these individuals are
able to describe a person’s aura and give insights on
what it means for the person.
Aura energy is believed to represent a person’s state
of being. It may reflect their vibration or levels of
awareness – their spiritual fitness one might say.
Charles Webster Leadbeater, a former priest of the
Church of England and a member of the mystic
Theosophical Society is credited with developing and
promoting the concept of auras (Hanegraaff, Wouter J.
Dictionary of Gnosis & Western Esotericism.
Leiden: Brill.)
Today we have advance methods of capturing the aura
through specialized cameras and digital equipment.
Images taken show a range of colors that radiates from
the body’s energy field. Each color has meanings,
which an aura reader or psychic can use for divination
or personality typing.
Colors often present are:
Red: steady, active, strong-willed
Orange: mindful, thoughtful, caring
Yellow: creative, even-tempered, easy-going
Green: outgoing, gregarious, warm
Blue: psychic, mystical, open-minded
Indigo: inquisitive, spiritually aware, approachable
Violet: intelligent, sensitive, mysterious, enlightened
You can practice seeing auras by looking at people's
heads. It will be easier to see people's auras when
they are standing in a lighted area with a dark
background. First look with your eyes half-closed,
then open your eyes completely. You may be able
to see different colors of light around people's heads.

Best Practices for Professional Readers
SAFETY FOR YOU AND YOUR CLIENTS
By Gina Thies

These times, they sure are changing. In today’s world,
we hear a lot of about hacking, identity theft, scams
and other ways where our information could be
accessed by violators.
It is unfortunate that we have to think about the
safety of our identity as much as we have to think
about our physical safety.
I started thinking about how we as professional readers
have the same diligence to protect our clients and
ourselves. There are several areas in which safety has
come to the forefront in the professional intuitive
arts business.
You know, many of your clients are seeking not only
your trusted guidance but may explore help from other
practitioners. It goes without saying that not all
practitioners have integrity and rise to the same level
of professionalism.
Advertising or marketing yourself as a trustworthy
professional, keeping in mind your specialty and
specific talent, helps clients know what they are
getting into and that shared personal details in their
sessions won’t be accessed outside of the session.
Another thing that promotes safety is a well-lit, clean
environment and good location. Think about it.
How much confidence do you have when you visit a store,
building or place of business and it is well-stocked, clean,
organized and bright?
As far as personal data, such as payment information,
emails addresses, physical address, etc., you’ll want
to make sure this information is encrypted and of
course, unexposed should you keep client’s
information on file. It is a good idea to clean out
your email inbox, text messages and other data that
may be stored on cloud servers.
Stay safe out there!
