April Fool's Day has its roots in
trickery and lighthearted mischief,
a day when the unexpected catches us
off guard. But what if we thought of
the Fool not as a punchline, but as a
sacred beginning?

In the tarot, The Fool isn't foolish at
all, but full of promise. The card
invites us to meet the unknown with
open hearts, to trust the path that
appears as we walk it. Here are some
of our thoughts about The Fool as the
energy of beginnings, of creation, and
of courageous becoming.

The Fool is your beginning — the
mystery and delight of your first
steps, the moment when everything is
new and sparkling for you. You have no
past, no future, not even a present —
only pure possibility, as yet unrealized.

The Fool creates the world with his
steps — the ground rises to meet his
feet. There is no ground until he steps.
You create your own world with your
steps. Whatever decision you take, even
if it is to do nothing, creates your
experience moment by moment.

Your choice of where to step opens
worlds for you to consciously explore,
adventures to have, a chosen category
of experiences and surprises.

To consciously act with The Fool's
energy is to be aware of intending
your steps, choosing your actions.
A conscious choice is effervescent
with bubbles of possibility.

To act The Fool is to be new, full of
possibility and promise.

To act The Fool is to see yourself in
everyone.

To act The Fool is to be fearless and
certain and committed to moving only
forward and never back.

To act The Fool is to create. The world
rises to meet your steps, and becomes
what you initiate.

To act The Fool is possible for anyone
at any time. It is your most fundamental
birthright.

I've been seeing ads for metaphysical
jewelry on my Facebook feed lately,
including tarot card pendants and
lockets. Even though I couldn't vouch
for the quality, I thought I'd tell you
about them anyway. I forgot the name of
the company so I did a search on "tarot
card jewelry." The company was there,
along with some others. But THIS ONE
blew everything else away.

The pieces are super-expensive but are
so beautiful, I had to share. The La Luna
Tarot Card pendant in the picture is made
with 18K yellow gold, 2.30 cttw sapphires,
0.05 cttw black diamonds, and 0.49 cttw
G-H/SI diamonds on a 14.16 ct mother of

In my business networking groups, one
thing I hear time and again from people
is that they'd love to get publicity for
their business, but they have no idea
where to even begin. As a former
newspaper and magazine editor, I tell
them that it's easier than they think.
Believe it or not, editors want to hear
from you. After all, their job is to
fill empty space with intriguing,
captivating stories. If you can help
them, they will be all ears.

As a spiritual business practitioner,
it's likely that you have a great story
to offer. The magic formula for getting
free publicity is to 1) Have a story
and 2) find the right person to send it to.

So what's your story? For local
publications, it can be as simple as
you've just opened your business or you
have a fun class coming up. For larger
outlets, maybe you offer a service that
no one else does (I've recently read
articles on a lipstick reader and a
cheese reader), or perhaps you've won
an award or you've written a book.

You can also consider ways in which
your expertise can translate into themed
articles. For example, I was quoted in
a Reader's Digest article on cocktails
for your astrological sign and in Good
Housekeeping on alternative birthday
parties for teenagers. These articles
weren't about me, but they included
links to my website, which is better
than any advertisement.

Think about what types of articles you
stop to read and what publications you
gravitate toward, and see how you might
fit in with these. It's tempting to want to
focus on getting into a major glossy
magazine, but don't discount the value
of small local newspapers, particularly
if you see clients in person.

One hot tip:

For those of us in the spooky arena
(tarot readings, mediumship, etc.),
local outlets would love to hear from
you for their October issues.

How do you know who to contact?

You do need to do a little homework.
Look for the masthead (the list of editors)
and find the one that would correspond
best to what you're pitching. You don't
want to contact the editor-in-chief or
publisher; they're too high up. Look for
the managing editor, business editor,
food editor, health editor, etc.

Another hot tip:

Sign up with Qwoted and
Source of Sources . These are
websites where editors and reporters
put out calls for what they're looking
for and experts (that's YOU!) have the
opportunity to respond to potentially
be picked as resources for their
articles. Qwoted in particular often
has opportunities for astrologers.

With a little research and some
creative brainstorming, it's very
possible to get yourself seen by a
whole new audience. It takes some
investment of your time, but one
well-placed article can be a complete
game changer for your metaphysical
business.

Remote viewing (RV) is the practice of
perceiving information about distant or
unseen locations, objects, or events
using extrasensory perception (ESP) or
heightened intuition. Developed in the
1970s through research funded by the
U.S. government (notably the Stargate
Project), RV is based on the idea that
consciousness is not bound by time and
space.

Unlike psychic readings, RV follows a
structured method to gain verifiable
information without relying on personal
intuition alone. It has been used for
intelligence gathering, personal
development, and even exploring past
and future events.

How to Practice Remote Viewing

You don't need special abilities to try
RV—just an open mind, a quiet space,
and some patience. Here's a basic
step-by-step method you can use:

Step 1: Prepare the Mind and
Environment

Find a quiet, distraction-free space
where you won't be interrupted.
Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and
take a few deep breaths to enter a
relaxed but alert state.

Set a clear intention: “I will perceive
information about [a target].”

Step 2: Use a Random Target

Have a friend select a random
photograph (e.g., a nature scene, a
landmark, an unknown location). They
should write a number on it (a “target
reference number”) and keep it hidden
from you.

If practicing alone, use an online
remote viewing target generator or pick
a sealed envelope with a hidden image
inside.

Step 3: Perceive Sensory Impressions

Without forcing anything, allow
impressions to surface. They may
come as:

Colors
(e.g., "I see blue and green.")

Textures
(e.g., "It feels rough like stone.")

Shapes and Forms
(e.g., "There's a tall, thin structure.")

Temperature, Sound, or Movement
(e.g., "I sense warmth and hear flowing
water.")

Write or sketch whatever arises without
trying to “name” the target. Stay detached
and trust the process.

Step 4: Refine and Verify

Once you have a collection of
impressions, analyze your notes.

Do they suggest a location, an
object, or a person?

Compare your impressions with the
actual target. Were any details
correct?

Example of a Remote Viewing Session

Let's say your hidden target is the
Eiffel Tower. During your session, you
might perceive:

“A tall, metallic structure”
“A sense of height and airiness”
“A feeling of tourism and crowds”

While you may not explicitly “see” the
Eiffel Tower, the impressions align
with key features. The goal is not
absolute accuracy but developing
nonlocal perception over time.

Enhancing Your Remote Viewing Practice

Practice regularly: The more you do it,
the stronger your impressions become.
Work with a partner: Having someone
assign targets can eliminate bias.

Use a blind protocol: The less you know
about the target, the purer the information
received.

Two Ways To See

When you look at a card, what and how
do you see? The answer is mostly, that
you will use your eyes to see the card,
and you will use your experience and
your instinct to interpret what you
see. Everyone's eyes will see pretty
much the same things if they are
looking at the same card from the same
deck. The interpretive part will vary
from person to person. What you think
about what you see will depend on what
you have been educated to think.

The meaning of a card that you get from
looking at it and interpreting the
picture is called intuitive reading and
it is mostly limited to the field of
everyday human drama.

But it is also possible to see the card
with your mind's eye, which couldn't
see much beyond the intuitive level if
it wasn't taught to do that.

What is called esoteric tarot is the
way your mind sees tarot if it has
received a specialized education. When
the mind has been trained to see tarot
in this way, it also learns to see
human beings and the world in the same
way. You could say then that the world
is as you have re-learned to see it.
Understanding the cards in tarot, goes
deeper and deeper into a well of
knowledge that has no bottom.
