And a special welcome to our new subscribers.

On September 2nd, I had my second total knee replacement, the right one this time. The surgery went well, except for some truly annoying trouble with swelling. My physical therapist is very pleased with my recovery so that's good. I want to express my deep gratitude to all of you who have sent me well wishes and
healing energy. You mean the world to me!
As part of my recuperation, I planned to skip this month's issue of Tarot Tips. However, I do have some information to share about our Birth Card Calculator so I decided to publish this abbreviated edition instead. It also includes our schedule of classes for August.
And one more thing...
Give yourself a little break, too. Draw a card for a suggestion how. I drew The Lovers reversed. It looks like it's time to give myself a little more self-love. How about you?
Wishing you joy along the tarot path,
Ruth Ann

BUG FIX FOR OUR
BIRTH CARD CALCULATOR
We recently received an email from a woman who was confused as to the correct Birth Cards for her son. She wrote: "My son's birthdate is February 7, 2001
When I try to figure his birth cards I get
But the calculators all say
Am I doing these calculations incorrectly?" The sum of her son's birthdate equals 30, which further reduces to 3. Since Birth Cards come in pairs, except for Sun-Wheel-Magician, the companion card would also reduce to 3. We describe why this particular set can be confusing on our website: "If you begin with a single digit and you search for the double digit that is its pair, you will find that there is only one possibility, with a single exception. If your birthdate adds up to 30, it reduces to 3. Three can be arrived at by a reduction of either 12 (Hanged Man) or 21 (World), but we have found that where this choice exists, 12 works best." I was faced with a bit of a dilemma since I didn't know how to fix the Javascript for the calculator. Then I remembered that ChatGPT can code so I gave it this prompt: "If a birth date adds up to 30, it reduces to 3. The number 3 can be arrived at by a reduction of either 12 or 21. The code below defaults to 21. Please amend it so the default is 12." I pasted in the original segment of code, hit return, and two seconds later this was the result:
//******************************************
var sumStr = "" + sum;
// while number is bigger than
21
// if it is a three digit
number
// if it is a two digit number
It worked! If you have used an online Birth Card Calculator and received an answer of The World and The Empress, re-enter the birth date at https://tarotschool.com/Calculator.html to double-check the result. If you still get World-Empress, those are the correct Birth Cards. But if the original calculation was wrong, you should now see The Hanged Man and The Empress. Our Birth Card Calculator was the first of its kind and was coded especially for us. Any others that are out there probably just swiped our code, which is why the woman had been getting the same results elsewhere. If you come across a Birth Card Calculator that is not on our website, please give the new code snippet to the site owner so they can make the update. Wald and I think it's a great idea to learn the Birth Cards of the members of your family. They can shed light on family dynamics that would otherwise be very difficult to understand. Birth Cards demonstrate the different ways in which we perceive the world and respond to it so they take blame out of the equation of human relationships.
If you want to learn more about Birth Cards, we have a course that goes into more detail than what is posted on our website.
