Meditation Room

We know that the high level of energy at The Readers Studio can get a little intense sometimes. We've created a special retreat where you can rest and relax whenever you like, without running off to your room. Take a few minutes to sit quietly while being bathed in soft light and gentle, healing music. You'll find our peaceful and serene Meditation Room in the Forest Hills Room, located on the Lower Level, all the way to the left.

Altar of Remembrance: A special feature of the Meditation Room is the Altar of Remembrance. If you have a loved one (two or four-footed) whose spirit you would like to honor during the conference, please feel free to place a photo or token on the altar. Just remember to take it home with you at the end of the weekend.

Carolyn Cushing organizes and facilitates ritual and meditation events held in the Meditation Room.

    FRIDAY from 2:15pm to 3:15pm

Opening to Wisdom Ritual — Each year a specific theme, inspired by a Tarot or oracle deck, is offered to help us encounter the wisdom that flows to us through the symbols, imagery, and figures of the Tarot tradition.

    SATURDAY from 8:00am to 8:30am

Morning Meditation — If you need a gentle start to the day, join us for a 30-minute session that will include energy balancing, guided visualization, and silent meditation. You'll spend the majority of time focused inwardly.

Following the meditation's conclusion at 8:30am, there will be an option for journaling and a brief sharing of experiences in Circle until 9am.

Bring your favorite tarot deck and a notebook / journal.

    SUNDAY from 12:30pm to 1:15pm

Integration Ritual — On Sunday, we being to think about returning home and how to bring all the wisdom and connections of Readers Studio with us. This ritual weaves together strands of reflection, release, gratitude, and vision.

“Instant solace…”

I entered the meditation room and achieved instant solace, embraced by the circle arrangement of chairs, gentleness of light, and soft sweet music. The central altar with its subtly winking cloth, crystals in various shapes, and the four corners of color-shifting light drew me to settle for a good hour. I’m not a routine meditator, but I simply could not help myself — it was so lovely.
