Your Heroic Journey in Consciousness—Revealed in the Tarot

Cheryl Ryder

In 1949 Joseph Campbell published his watershed book on mythology and the psyche, The Hero With a Thousand Faces, wherein he drew compelling parallels between the world of dreams, mythology and our lives. One of our important duties as tarot readers is to assist our clients to reconnect with the flow of their personal heroic journeys; to recognize within themselves the Jason, the Demeter, the Parcival or Galahad, the Isis, who is undergoing an important transformation in consciousness, and to encourage them to say 'yes' to the process.

For this Study Session we won't be taking the usual tour of the Fool's Journey through the Major Arcana. Instead, using our entire Tarot Decks (fully pictorial decks are recommended) and Joseph Campbell's The Hero With a Thousand Faces as a guide, we'll be illustrating the Heroic Journey Monomyth in the stages and events of our own personal lives: past, present, and possible future.

The goal is for us to recognize and remember that WE are the heroes and heroines of the ancient mythologies and to fully participate in our unfurling journey. We will be reclaiming our hero-selves! And for having done so, we can become the Supernatural Guides that appear to our clients as they step out on their Heroic Journeys in Consciousness and toward their experience of being fully alive.

FRIDAY, April 24th 9–11 pm
